Kindergarten Preparatory Class

Your child's entrance into formal schooling will be one of the most exciting and challenging times in your family's life. The Carinya Kindergarten Preparatory Class gives your child the ideal headstart to the formal learning environment.

The 2 or 3 day programmes are open to students in the year before they commence full-time schooling in Kindergarten. Students from the Prep Class remain on the one campus throughout their primary school life and interact with students of all ages.  Prep children use the school facilities, are read to by seniors and are cared for by all.  This family-like environment encourages maturity and confidence, and ensures that your child experiences consistency and security as they make the transition into Kindergarten.  As a result of  coming to Prep for a year the only tears on the first day of Kindergarten are from Mum!

The Prep programme is a play-based theme structure that provides intellectual, physical and emotional readiness for full time schooling.  Recent research has shown that such an environment is especially helpful for boys who may do better throughout their schooling by starting Kindergarten a year later.  The Prep programme provides an excellent transition.

The Prep class is provided only for those parents who are anticipating the child going on to Kindergarten at Carinya.
