English Teacher (Full Time or Part Time)
Carinya Christian School Tamworth is now receiving applications from dynamic Secondary English Teachers who have a desire to empower students via the development of their language and literacy skills.
Applicants must be suitably qualified to teach English and accredited to teach with the New South Wales Education Standards Authority. To align with the Schools Christian beliefs, applicants must be committed Christians of reformed evangelical persuasion. Applications from both new and experienced teachers will be considered and it is a requirement that all applicants hold a current Working With Children Check.
English teachers direct and instruct the learning of students from Years 7 to 12 as they seek to comprehend, interpret and evaluate the ideas, values, language forms, features and structures of texts from various contexts. Secondary teachers at Carinya Tamworth teach 25 of 30 periods per week with 5 periods per week being allocated for preparation, administration and relief. All teachers participate in the Pastoral Care of students and meet with their assigned Pastoral Care class at the start of each school day. Teachers are also expected to participate in extra-curricular and sporting activities at the school which provides additional Pastoral Care opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers and new scheme teachers to work in a supportive and professional Christian Education setting. The Tamworth Christian Education Association operates both Carinya Christian School Tamworth and Gunnedah. Over 550 families, 1000 students, and over 140 staff make up the Carinya community, with staff working across both schools to share administrative and curriculum resources.
Carinya Tamworth is a Prep to 12 co-educational school. The school has a strong academic profile and a broad sporting and extra curricular program. A strong focus on professional development and teaching standards exists within the school and staff are encouraged to seek progression against the National Teaching Standards. Carinya Christian School is a member of Christian Education National (CEN).
Teachers at Carinya are employed under the Independent Schools NSW Standards Model Carinya Christian School Agreement. This agreement provides entitlements which are above the industry average and enables career progression based upon professional development rather than years of service.
Salary Range as of February 2019 - Band 1 $76,261; Band 2 $94,622; Band 3 $108,045
Professional development is a priority for the school and two non-teaching weeks are set aside each year during student vacation for all staff to collectively participate in Curriculum and Professional Development. Carinya Term Dates do not match NSW Public Schools and can be viewed via the school website.
