HSIE & Outdoor Ed Teacher (Full Time or Part Time)
Carinya Christian School Tamworth is now receiving applications from Secondary Teachers to teach HSIE and Outdoor Education commencing Term 1 2019.
Applicants must be committed Christians of reformed evangelical persuasion and be suitably qualified to fill this role within the school.
This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who loves the outdoors. The successful applicant will teach HSIE subjects and both the practical and theoretical side of Outdoor Education, a Year 9 and 10 elective course. The position available can be filled in a full time capacity or split into two part time positions.
The successful applicant should be comfortable teaching a range of HSIE subjects, and must be qualified with NESA to do so. No prior Outdoor Education qualifications are required, however they would be an advantage. Outdoor Education training will be provided to develop qualifications in areas such as remote area first aid, abseiling, navigation, bush craft and rock climbing.
Working as part of a dedicated team of experienced secondary teachers, this is an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers and new scheme teachers to work in a supportive and professional learning environment. New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) Teacher Registration and a current Working With Children Check are both Mandatory. All teaching staff are also expected to participate in extra-curricular and sporting activities.
The Tamworth Christian Education Association operates both Carinya Christian School Tamworth and Gunnedah. Over 550 families, 940 students, and 140 staff make up the Carinya community, with staff working across both schools to share administrative and curriculum resources.
Carinya Tamworth is a Prep to 12 co-educational school. The school has a strong academic profile and a broad sporting and extra curricular program. A strong focus on professional development and teaching standards exists within the school and staff are encouraged to seek progression against the National Teaching Standards.
Teachers at Carinya are employed under the Independent Schools NSW Standards Model Carinya Christian School Agreement. This agreement provides entitlements which are above the industry average and enables career progression based upon professional development rather than years of service.
Salary Range as of February 2018 - Band 1 $74,401; Band 2 $92,314; Band 3 $105,410
Professional development is a priority for the school and two non-teaching weeks are set aside each year during student vacation for all staff to collectively participate in Curriculum and Professional Development. Carinya Term Dates do not match NSW Public Schools and can be viewed via the school website.
Tamworth is the main commercial hub of the expanding New England region of North West NSW, and is one of the 7 Evocities identified by the NSW government. Tamworth has shown positive, average population growth for the last ten years.
An Evocity is not a sea change, not a tree change but a CITY CHANGE. Living in an Evocity means less time commuting, working and stressing, and more time for your family to enjoy NSW’s beautiful natural surrounds.
As a regional Evocity, Tamworth offers residents a lower cost of living, strong career and business opportunities and enhanced lifestyle.
