Learning Support Teacher (Temporary Part Time)
Carinya Christian School Tamworth is now receiving applications for a temporary, part time Learning Support Teacher to commence at our Tamworth School in Term 1 2019.
Applicants must be committed Christians of reformed evangelical persuasion. It is expected that applicants will have completed a degree in education and have some teaching experience.
Personal characteristics and skills considered essential for the Learning Support Teacher to successfully fulfill the responsibilities of the role include:
Able to work as a member of a team;
Have the ability to maintain a flexible attitude to daily work flow;
Able to relate effectively to students from Years K-12;
Be able to work independently when required;
Have the capacity to make appropriate judgments regarding student learning and welfare;
Have ICT competencies such as using spreadsheets and databases;
Be willing to learn about the complex nature of the variety of learning and physical disabilities encountered;
Be willing to assist with filing, photocopying and other administrative duties;
Without exception, be able to respect and understand the need for confidentiality;
Work to develop effective and positive relationships with students and parents.
Working under the direction of the Learning Support Coordinator, the Learning Support Teacher will support students who need significant adjustments and interventions to their learning program. The Position is for 1 day per week (FTE 0.2) and is a temporary position for the 2019 school year. The National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) will be a major component of this position.
Specifically the Learning Support Teacher will be expected to complete the following tasks with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism:
Document interactions with students, parents and teachers where necessary;
Contribute to the planning of Individual Learning Programs for students with learning and behaviour disorders;
Consult with parents, students and the Learning Support Coordinator as required;
Liaise with class teachers for information regarding student’s learning;
Utilise the NCCD database and a range of spreadsheet data to efficiently document the collection and implementation of adjustments for students with a disability.
The Tamworth Christian Education Association operates both Carinya Christian School Tamworth and Gunnedah. Over 550 families, 940 students, and 140 staff make up the Carinya community, with staff working across both schools to share administrative and curriculum resources.
Carinya Tamworth is a Prep to 12 co-educational school. The school has a strong academic profile and a broad sporting and extra curricular program. Teachers at Carinya are employed under the Independent Schools NSW Standards Model Carinya Christian School Agreement. This agreement provides entitlements which are above the industry average and enables career progression based upon professional development rather than years of service.
Salary Range as of February 2019 - Band 1 $76,261; Band 2 $94,622; Band 3 $108,045
Professional development is a priority for the school and two non-teaching weeks are set aside each year during student vacation for all staff to collectively participate in Curriculum and Professional Development. Carinya Term Dates do not match NSW Public Schools and can be viewed via the school website.
