Carinya students have many sporting opportunities throughout the school year.

Carinya enters teams in the local weekly school sport competitions. Boys and girls can participate (some are mixed, others are separate competitions). More information on these sports will be available closer to the start of the competition. The sports are:

  • Basketball (Yr 3-10) - 2 Competitions per year, Term 1-2 and Term 3-4

  • Cricket (Yr 1-10) - Term 4 through until Term 1

  • Football (Soccer) (Kindy - Yr 5) - Terms 2-3

  • Hockey (Yr 7-12) - Terms 2-3

  • Netball (Girls only) - Terms 2-3

  • Oztag (Yr 3-10) - Terms 1 and 4

  • Rugby Union (Boys only) (Yr 5-12) - Term 2-3

  • Waterpolo (Yr 3-12) - Term 4 through until Term 1

Carinya is affiliated with CSSA (Christian Schools Sports Association) as well as with CIS (Combined Independent Schools) Sports Association. These affiliations allow students to compete at Zone and State levels in a wide range of individual and team sporting pursuits against other Christian Schools; and then follow pathways which means they play against all the other Independent Schools in NSW. If students continue to be highly successful in their chosen sport, they may have the opportunity to represent at a National level at an All Schools competition.

All sporting teams are staffed or coached by qualified teachers and the standard of sportsmanship that we expect is very high.

Above all, students are encouraged to develop and use their gifts in sport to honour Christ, the giver of all gifts, in the way they play with and against others.  Students are taught that only their best is good enough - but their best is always good enough.
