Student Leadership | Gunnedah

Leadership Through Service.

Empowered by Grace.

Students entering Year 10 are invited to apply to become a Student Leader. For successful applicants, we aim to offer formal, biblically based leadership training, complemented by practical opportunities to exercise effective leadership in the school through service and support of others. The focus of the leadership training and practice will be on servant leadership, utilising God-given gifts as determined and enabled through God’s grace.

Leadership is a broad term that encompasses a range of skills and responsibilities, which are increasingly required in the workforce and in society as a whole. Through the development of the Carinya Student Leadership Program, it is hoped that students will have the opportunity to contribute to the school in a more meaningful and proactive way, while also developing skills that will stand each student in good stead in the years after school.

Student Leaders are empowered to serve others in a purposeful and meaningful way, as well as help shape the school's culture through their contributions and involvement at various levels.

Student Leaders are required to be involved in training sessions focusing on:

  • The particular values & ethos of the school

  • Qualities of a leader based on our values & ethos

  • Leading & speaking to small and large groups

Leadership Roles & Role Modelling

Students are expected to take part in leadership roles in some capacity. With these roles comes the fundamental responsibility of role modelling. Student Leaders are called to make every effort to support the school community in the ways outlined below.
