GENERAL HAND PROJECTS

Carinya Christian School is seeking a Temporary Full-Time general hand to join the Projects Team working across the Tamworth and Gunnedah schools.

THE POSITION

The overarching duties of the responsibilities for the General Hand Projects are listed below. This list is not a comprehensive list of tasks but highlights the areas of responsibility for the role.

Support the Projects team in completing small scale, construction, repair and improvement works including:

  • Landscaping

  • Fencing

  • Irrigation Systems

  • Playground Construction

  • Roofing

  • Shade Structures

  • Signage

  • Concreting

  • Operating basic power tools and equipment in accordance with WHS guidelines.

  • Attending the Gunnedah campus with the projects team

Support the maintenance activities at the schools as required including:

  • Conducting routine inspections and assisting with hazard removal, rubbish collection, and basic repairs.

  • Safely store and organise workspaces.

Complete other duties within your area of skills and abilities as required by your manager

THE APPLICANT

The smooth operation of our school is a very important aspect of Carinya and this position requires a hard workers with an eye for detail. Self-motivation is a must as the applicant will largely work alone. Applicants must be committed Christians of reformed evangelical persuasion.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Previous exposure to either residential, rural, or commercial construction

  • Experience driving tractors, skid-steer loaders, or other small construction equipment

Desirable Experience and Skills

  • Welding

  • Landscaping

  • Fencing

  • Irrigation systems

  • Roofing

Generally

  • Act in an ethical manner

  • Maintain confidentiality of data

  • Time management skills to meet deadlines

  • Calm and friendly demeanour with all staff, parents and stakeholders

  • Comply with Workplace Health and Safety policies and take reasonable care of your own safety and those around you

Carinya is a co-educational Christian school with more than 1200 students in Prep to Year 12 across sites in Tamworth & Gunnedah.
