RECEPTION / ADMINISTRATION SUPPORT TAMWORTH

Carinya Christian School is now receiving applications for a casual Administration Support staff member to commence at our Tamworth School on Monday, 22nd January 2024.

The Position

Working under the direction of the Office Manager and in conjunction with other team members, the purpose of the Reception / Administration role is to support the daily operations of the Tamworth School by performing a large variety of roles and functions.

This is a permanent part-time position, from 8:00am to 4:00pm, 3 days per week, for school term weeks and curriculum weeks only. The position is to commence on day 1 of the 2024 school curriculum week, Monday 22nd of January 2024.

Reception

  • Greeting visitors and providing a first response to their inquiry

  • Answering phone calls and directing those calls

  • Assisting parents with Parent Lounge enquiries / Parent Orbit access

Clerical Duties

  • Responding to inquiries and managing email, sms and other correspondence

  • Academic Tasks Data Checking (across both schools sites)

  • Bookings and administrative tasks related to annual camps (facilities and transport for Years 5 to 12 across both schools)

Student Administration

  • Completing daily attendance requirements via the school administration system, including arrangements for students signing in and out of the school and confirming student attendance status with parents

  • Recording and managing student medical information

  • Assisting with the production and distribution of student academic reports

General Administration

  • Administration of the parent/teacher interview system

  • Subpoena production 

  • As directed, assist in preparing letters, student reports, and newsletters to be sent to the school community.

  • Other tasks to support the operation and administration of the school as directed by the Office Manager, Business Manager or Principal.

Christian Leadership

Applicants must be committed Christians of reformed evangelical persuasion. As an independent Christian School, the school’s purpose is to provide a christ-centred learning environment. To be able to support the purpose of the school, it is a requirement that Administrative Support staff:

  • Affirm and practice the Christian Faith, including attendance at a church

  • Affirm and adhere to the first 20 Chapters of the Westminster Confession of Faith

Hours of Work

This is a permanent part-time position, from 8:00am to 4:00pm, 3 days per week, for school term weeks and curriculum weeks. Options can be discussed at the interview if applicants seek further administrative roles across the school to extend to 5 days of employment under the same working hours and weeks of the school year.

Agreement / Contract

Employment will be governed by the Independent Schools NSW (Support and Operational Staff) Multi-Enterprise Agreement. This agreement provides above-average benefits and career progression opportunities to all staff. Depending upon the applicant's prior experience, the position will be classified as Clerical and Administrative Staff.

Commencement

This position is scheduled to commence on day 1 of the 2024 school curriculum week, Monday, 22nd January 2024.

The School

The Tamworth Christian Education Association operates both Carinya Christian School Gunnedah and Tamworth. Over 650 families, 1020 students, and 190 staff make up the Carinya community, with staff working across both schools to share administrative and curriculum resources. Carinya Tamworth is a Prep to Year 12 co-educational school. The school has a strong academic profile and a broad extracurricular program.
