Carinya Christian School Gunnedah is now receiving applications from passionate Secondary Maths Teachers who have a desire to motivate and equip students in their discovery and understanding of God’s world. This position is offered on either a full-time or part-time basis to suit the circumstances of the preferred applicant, commencing Term 1, 2023.
The APPLICANT
Applicants must be suitably qualified to teach Secondary Mathematics and accredited to teach with the New South Wales Education Standards Authority. To align with the school’s Christian beliefs, applicants must be committed Christians of reformed evangelical persuasion. Applications from both new and experienced teachers will be considered and it is a requirement that all applicants hold a current Working With Children Check.
The POSITION
Secondary teachers direct and instruct the learning of students from Years 5 to 10 as they seek to develop and refine their understanding and knowledge of God’s world in a modern context. Full-Time secondary teachers at Carinya Gunnedah teach 25 of 30 periods per week with 5 periods per week being allocated for preparation, administration and relief. All teachers participate in the pastoral care of students and in extra-curricular and sporting activities at the school. This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers and new scheme teachers to work in a supportive, and professional Christian education setting.
The School
The Tamworth Christian Education Association operates both Carinya Christian School Gunnedah and Tamworth. Over 650 families, 1100 students, and 180 staff make up the Carinya community, with staff working across both schools to share administrative and curriculum resources. A strong focus on professional development and teaching standards exists within the school and staff are encouraged to seek progression against the National Teaching Standards. Carinya Christian School is a member of Christian Education National (CEN).
Carinya Gunnedah is a Prep to Year 10 co-educational school. The school has a strong academic profile and a broad extracurricular program. Over 120 families form the Gunnedah school community and more than 270 students are enrolled from Prep to Year 10.
Benefits
Teachers at Carinya are employed under the Independent Schools NSW Standards Model Carinya Christian School Agreement. This agreement provides entitlements that are above the industry average and enables career progression based upon professional development rather than years of service.
Salary Range as of February 2023 - Band 1 $83,357, Band 2 $103,429, Band 3 $118,101
Professional development is a priority for the school and two non-teaching weeks are set aside each year during student vacation for all staff to collectively participate in Curriculum and Professional Development. Carinya Term Dates do not match NSW Public Schools and can be viewed via the school website.
RELOCATION EXPENSES
To support applicants from outside of the region, the school is able to offer assistance with relocation expenses for this full-time position. Relocation costs include removalist and transport costs up to an agreed value. Costs that can be reimbursed are those exempt from Fringe Benefits Tax as per the ATO guidelines.
The Region
Gunnedah is a major commercial township of the Liverpool Plains located within the North West Slopes Region of North West New South Wales. The township is approximately 450 kilometres north of the Sydney CBD and 650 kilometres south of the Brisbane CBD. Agriculture, mining and manufacturing are the region’s major industries, all of these supported by the bustling commercial hub of Gunnedah.
