UNIFORM SHOP MANAGER

Carinya Christian School is now receiving applications for a permanent part time Uniform Shop Manager to commence in 2024.

The Position

This permanent part time opportunity is a varied and challenging role. The Uniform Shop Manager is responsible for the complete operation of the Carinya Uniform Shop. The Uniform Shop is based at the Tamworth School and also serves the Gunnedah school.

TRANSITION / COMMENCEMENT

This position is replacing an existing staff member who has served as the Uniform Shop Manager for the past 5 years. As a new school uniform is currently being introduced across both schools, the intention is that the newly appointed staff member will commence in March of 2024 and work alongside the incumbent in a support / training capacity for the remainder of 2024. It is anticipated that the new Uniform Shop Manager will take full responsibility for operations of the Uniform Shop at the conclusion of the 2024 school year.

The Applicant

In accordance with the school’s purpose, applicants must be committed Christians of reformed evangelical persuasion and be supportive of the school’s Christ Centred educational philosophy. The skills, aptitude, and manner of applicants are essential to success in this varied and challenging role, and will be regarded before qualifications and experiences. Applicants will be considered based on the following criteria:

  • A courteous, tactful and confident manner, as the Uniform Shop is a key point of contact for new families and plays an important role in welcoming new families to the school.

  • Aptitude to understand and utilise accounting software applications such as MYOB.

  • Attention to detail including exceptional analytical and planning skills (ordering is completed 9 months in advance).

  • Aptitude to learn and use MS Excel and other MS Office products.

  • Ability to take initiative, identify and solve problems and make recommendations to the Business Manager and the Uniform Committee.

  • Ability to remain calm and work under pressure by applying themselves consistently and methodically at all times.

  • A desire to be challenged by accepting responsibility for important functions.

HOURS OF WORK

During school term times, the Uniform Shop Manager is generally required to work three days per week. During school holiday periods, working hours vary from 3 to 5 days per holiday period, with the Uniform Shop open during the last week of holidays depending upon the requirements for that time of year. Upon commencement, and during the transition period whilst the new staff member is working in a support / training capacity, work hours may be varied.

The School

Carinya is a co-educational, Christian school with a student population of approximately 900 students between Prep and Year 12 in Tamworth and 240 students between prep and Year 10 in Gunnedah.

Benefits

Upon appointment, and whilst working in a support / training capacity, the new staff member will be classified as being Clerical Admin Level 3 under the Independent Schools NSW Standards Model (Support and Operational Staff) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022 – 2024. Upon assuming full responsibility as the Uniform Shop Manager, the position will be classified as being Clerical Admin Level 4.
